The Nine to Five
Alright, There’s something going on in this country and I really don’t know how I feel about it. It’s known officially as “Business hours” or in the modern colloquialism, “Nine to Five.”
Now I have a taste of a full time, nine to five job (Really it’s eight to five with an hour lunch, but whatever). Well, I’ve started to have problems. Let me pose you this question: When do buisiness men conduct personal business?
Banks, the Post office, and the DMV all have this in common: They are open from around 9 to around 5. So what the heck? If I work a 9-5 job, I don’t get to go to banks, post offices or the DMV. How dumb is that? So now I have to sacrifice my precious lunch break to take care of business. I suppose it doesn’t help that I have two jobs… one that covers the nine to five, and one for weekends.
So… my solution? Live at home… ask mom to do it :). Ok, so that’ll only last so long, but hey, it’ll work until I go to Michigan (at which time I probably won’t be workin nine to five…).

I too have wondered this question. But, as always, America has the answer: technology. ATM’s replace bank tellers and the post office even has a machine that lets you send your own packages! Now….it took me a second to figure out what the DMV was (only a second….no laughing), b/c we don’t have those in MI! ha …just one more reason to move here (as if the first wasn’t big enough!!)

I know! I sometimes work a “closing” shift (2-11) and I can’t really do too much w/ the phone because everybody is “outside business hours.”
